This course will provide yogic asana stretching and strengthening exercises for participants, specifically useful for the muscle groups massage therapists tend to use heavily. Since these muscle groups are also stressed by many of our clients’ occupations, the asanas will be useful for CMTs to give their clients. Self-care strategies for injury prevention and body mechanics will be discussed and participants’ body mechanics will be evaluated, with suggestions offered for health alternatives to less than optimal habits they may have developed. Bodywork options for use with repetitive strain conditions will be demonstrated and practiced. The ethics component of the workshop (2 hours) will focus on yogic yamas and niyamas and the relationship between self-care and client care.
